Recruitment opens for the 2025 TAL Graduate Program

TAL has launched its 2025 Graduate Program, with 11 positions available across the organisation. The leading Australian life insurer is seeking candidates from a range of disciplines, from data science and product design to actuarial science and allied health.

TAL General Manager People & Culture Paola Molino said TAL was focused on providing a rich and personalised experience to its small graduate cohort.

“Although we’re Australia’s largest life insurer, the size of our program ensures each graduate benefits from time with senior leaders and individually-tailored support to ensure they grow as professionals.”

“A career in life insurance is diverse, exciting and has true purpose, supporting and helping customers through their most challenging times. Some graduates are surprised by the range of opportunities available at TAL, and the innovative thinking we employ to support a sustainable, thriving life insurance sector.”

“TAL is a progressive financial services organisation, but at our core, we’re a people business. Beyond great grades, we seek out candidates who want to make a positive difference in people’s lives and have a genuine curiosity and a fresh approach to problem-solving. These qualities are key to improving the experience and outcomes of our 5 million customers.”

This year, TAL is highlighting the numerous technology career pathways it offers, with four graduate positions available in its Technology team in 2025.

TAL Head of Digital Engineering, Sajeewa Arachchillage, said the insurer was able to use its scale and a culture of continuous improvement to give grads the opportunity to work on initiatives they may not expect.

We are an early adopter of new technologies – including Generative AI – because we see them as key to improving how our teams can support our customers, and make it easier for customers to interact with us.”

“TAL’s investment in technology means we work closely with our technology partners to gain early access to new programs, and can also provide hands-on experience in disciplines including digital engineering, digital innovation and product management.”

2022 TAL Technology Graduate Marina Santanelli said, “The program has been a great support to my entry into the corporate world, especially through the learning and development activities we complete throughout the program and the range of support systems available to grads. I have most enjoyed being able to undertake meaningful work and getting to network with a range of people across the business, including senior leaders, which has made working at TAL feel welcoming and full of opportunities.”

The two-year program, commencing in February 2025, will provide the cohort with a structured learning program coupled with hands-on, practical experience across five key business divisions. Graduates can apply for pathways in:

  • Actuarial
  • Finance
  • Group Life & Retirement Business
  • Individual Life Business
  • Technology

Each graduate undertakes four rotations, three in the discipline they’re hired into and one in a different area of the business.

TAL’s Graduate Program received several industry rankings in 2024, including:

  • GradAustralia Top 100 Graduate Finalist, #8 in Financial Services
